Episode #2: Pokemon Emergency!- Fuk da Police!

There are virtually no instances of police stations in the games… except in the most recent. But there are none in Kanto that we know of.

Recap of Episode 1 Part 2: EXP

I started up a yellow version for the purpose of gaining knowlege of Pikachu exp gain. I realize this might be different for the other versions, but it fits my needs as an accessable way for me to check level gain for a Pikachu. BUT ANYWAY HERE ARE LISTINGS FOR LEVEL GAIN AND STUFF

ACCORDING TO YELLOW VERSION

total from spearow- 46 Spearow @ ~ level 4 (33 exp each)= 1518 exp total

Lvl 5 = 91 to 6 @ 1427 left

lvl 6= 127 to 7 @ 1300 left

lvl 7= 169 to 8 @ 1131 left

lvl 8= 217 to 9 @ 914 left. Learned Thunder Wave

lvl 9= 271 to 10 @ 643 left

lvl 10= 331 to 11 @ 312 left

lvl 11= 397 with 85 left to level 12. Learned Quick Attack

So that means Pikachu is at level 11 and his attacks should include (from the new movests)

Thundershock, growl, tail whip and thunderwave. This is just really important for the rest of the series :D

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: It’s Electric

Ok, wait. Stop. What attack is that? It looks WAAAY more than a basic thundershock. I don’t believe this Pikachu has gained any experience yet in this episode. And a look at bulabpedia will show that it doesn’t learn Thunder until level 50.

:I

HOWEVER, one thing they did get right was the increased power Thunder gets from rain! So justified? Not really.

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: River

Er… everyone is familiar with Route 1 right? If not here’s a map:

So… why is there a river here? (It appears when Ash is fleeing the Spearow)

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: Wild 46 Pokemon Battle!

Ok ok, Ash pissed a Spearow off. Now he’s pitched in face to face combat with 46 Spearow:

Or ass to face whatever. Point is, it’s impossible to run into 46 Pokemon at once. 46 random battles yeah but… this is just stupid.

HOWEVER, wild double battles do exist. They were introduced in Gen IV and carried to Gen V. It’s a neat feature which I doubt will go past two wild Pokemon.

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: Other Pokemon

Ok, skipping a few other things here. Got the caps for the rest of the episode and I found a few other misplaced pokemon:

Sandshrew:

Mankey:

GYARADOS?!:

Like really the only Pokemon that is even remotely close to here is Mankey… and they added that in the Yellow Version.

(Also I realize there’s a Magicarp, but it’s also implied a river is on this Route. I’ll cover that later.)

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: Spearow’s Nest

Now here’s something that bothered me a lot when I was younger. Ash is trying to prove to Pikachu he doesn’t need his help. So he starts to throw rocks at Pidgey to make them easier to catch (which is possible in game… but only in the safari zone) and he accidentally hits a Spearow.

Alright, let’s rewind for a bit. Not long ago, Ash was in Pallet Town and then we see him dragging Pikachu along a route. In the next episode, he’s in Viridian City. So that means he’s currently on Route 1. So what’s the problem here? Ok kids, pull out your Pokedex.

I’ve highlighted the closest places Spearow nest. Not really close to Route 1. If you don’t believe me, here’s the listing from Bulbapedia:

So quite frankly, if it weren’t for this misplaced Spearow mob nearly killing Ash and Pikachu, this episode would have probably consisted of Ash having his ass handed to him by a Pidgey mob… or several Rattata bites.

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: THIEF

There are no moves to steal directly from a trainer’s bag.

The only moves that allow to steal are thief, covet and a few others. Come on Pokemon Anime! What is this? I wanted to steal that Rare Candy from Youngster Joey’s Bag

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: Is this even legal?

This can’t even happen in the games what are you doing. Any kind of force in taking Pokemon at all is associated with Team Rocket :I

Episode #1: Pokemon- I Choose You!: Pika Pika!

PIKACHU PIKA CHUUU PIKA PIKA

Translation:

PIIII PIKA CHUU.

In the beginning of the episode, we see Ash watching an informative show about Pokemon. It’s implied for the last 10 years of his life, he’s been exposed to Pokemon right? THEN WHY DIDN’T HE KNOW PIKACHU ONLY SAYS HIS NAME.
